Why we named River Karate ?
Water is very significant in all cultures of the world.
Water can cut stones or any hardest material when pressurised. Water
has both hard & soft qualities.
Water can take shape in all forms to meet required purposes
starting from rejuvenating to cut hardest materials (check water jet technologies
in Google) & still remain soft.
A river is
a natural watercourse, usually freshwater, flowing towards an ocean, a lake, a
sea, or another river.
Karate practitioners or any martial arts practitioners must train
hard & must have qualities like river water to become hard & still
remain soft & humble always to reach the desired destination.
In Bhishma Parva of Mahabharata, lord Krishna advised the Pandavas
to learn the secret of peace and prosperity from Bhishma before he dies when he
is on death bed after Mahabharta war.
Bhishma says on life “Life is like a river. You can struggle to
change its course but ultimately it will go its own way. Bathe in it, drink it,
be refreshed by it, share it with everyone, but never be swept away by its flow,
and never get attached to it. Observe it. Learn from it.”
Karate or any martial art is more like above meaning, its not only
about body conditioning & learning self-defense techniques. We need to
train our self to keep learning attitude, being good listener, being humble,
get motivated & motivate others, sharing the knowledge & wisdom with
others, going beyond our limits, having both hard & soft qualities to
adjust to the situations. Finally becoming better disciplined human beings.
"Flowing stream is going on ever without cease. But its water is not same.
Bubbles in a pool of the river are formed than burst. Nothing is staying in the water."
River represents a thinking of transient. It is one of the essences of Japanese culture.
River can be remained long time as same river, even more than many 1000 years. But its water is going away and coming into every moment. River doesn’t have same water as yesterday, because of water’s flow. Every moment, river is ding and rebirthing continuously.
When river stops
the flow, river dies. When river is flowing, it is living. It may change its
form, but it is same river. When river dies, the changing is stopped. Living
means flowing and changing.
Our world is continuing from ancient. But nobody is staying in here from beginning. We are going and coming.

Tradition is coming
from old age. But it has been changing until today.
We have to remain our world and tradition, but not as unchangeable forms.
We have to remain our world and tradition, but not as unchangeable forms.
Karate is living in
the sense. Many masters came to this world improved arts according to their
study. Sometimes we can lose genuine skill by mistake or oblivion, but next
generation can regain or get better one than before.
Karate is very changeable tradition. The history or tradition should be only one. But each era, each master must have own arts and possibilities.
Like a river, we cannot pick up same water from a river in different point or timing.

Most important thing
in Karate is to have possibilities of various movements in next moment. You
should not stop without dynamics. Even when you are stopping, you have to keep
energy for next motion. You should not decide next skill before. At the time
you abandon the other possibilities. Next moment should not be expected by
anyone.
It is very essential part of Karate to change your body and moving always. Your body should not be like dead body, without any moving, but should be flowing body.
